Notes from the 2015 Kentucky Voices for Health Conference, dec 2025
On Tuesday the 9th I got up early and headed to Lexington to attend the 2025 KVH Conference. This was powerful. It should have been PACKED with those serving as our legislators. They need to know this information from non-partisan professionals. There was no sugar coating of the problem we are in. Kentucky Health Care is in a crisis and the so called “Big Beautiful Bill” is only going to make it worse. I will call the bill HR1 here, it is shorter. The folks at the KVH made clear what the problem is and what needs to be done about it. The impending lack of Federal funding in an already troubled area is going to complicate the lives of millions of ordinary Kentuckians. In order to keep the problem from getting even worse the Kentucky legislature is going to have to pick up the slack and provide the supports that the Federal government is failing to provide.
Folks, you need to talk to your lawmakers and make sure that they understand the problems you and your families are facing.
People are going to be dealing with a nightmare of paperwork. Many who SHOULD be getting support will not get it because they just can’t manage to do the paperwork.
People are going to not get care because they won’t have transportation to medical care facilities.
Hospitals probably will not be closing, but they will NOT be providing the same services they provide now.
At the end of the day there were several lawmakers who discussed the legislative priorities of 2026. I did not get the impression that they had seen the same information presented that day. It will be up to YOU to make sure that they are aware of the problems that your families are having. Call them and make sure they know.

Please donate and help me get elected so that I can be a voice for health care in Kentucky.
I believe that health care is a right and no one should be denied access.
